The Tour to the Caribbean On Sunday you cross the central area of Costa Rican coffee plantation and get to the Poas National Park, where at 2700m you can admire the third biggest crater of Volcano Poas. You go on to the Caribbean Lowland with its vast pineapple plantations and to Rio San Carlos and stay at a beautiful lodge near the Nicaraguan border that really deserves its name: Pedacito del Cielo (a little bit of heaven). Here you can walk through the rain forest and see an unbelievable variety of colourful birds. Via Sarapiqui – with an opportunity of river rafting – and large banana plantations we go on to Puerto Limon, the central port of the Caribbean coast and a place where Columbus landed. You enter a completely different culture, the Afro-Caribbean, and stay at one of the fantastic beaches of the South Caribbean Sea. Near Puerto Viejo you visit the Indian Reserve Keköldi and can also enjoy the palm beaches and the refreshing waters of the sea.
