Tortuguero means dense Rain Forest, wildlife observation by boat through a fascinating nature. And from May to September you can watch turle nesting on the Caribbean beach.

The South Caribbean with the 2 fishermens villages Cahuita and Puerto Viejo = Old Harbour means wonderful palm beaches with typical Caribbean flair and a lot of active touristic options, Indian Reserves and the 2 National Parks Gandoca-Manzanillo and Cahuita.

TORTUGUERO: Itinerary & tour description

At 6:00 am, pick ups at the mayor hotels of San José and pass through dense tropical cloud and rain forest of National Park Braulio Carillo. We also estimate further pick ups at the Restaurant Caribbean Dish in Siquirres at 9:00 am, for all those people returning from other tours and for whom it is easier to participate in this tour from there. Stop for a typical breakfast. Driving through banana plantations we reach the peer of Caño Blanco or Rio La Suerte where we will get ready to for the boat that will take us through the exuberant canals of Tortuguero, where the hotel is located. We will check in, have lunch and get ready for the tour to the village in the afternoon.

Tour the village of Tortuguero with detailed information on its history, culture and work in favor conservation of the sea turtles and the flora and fauna in general. We will also visit the Turtle Museum of the “Caribbean Conservation Corporation”, where the guest completes the information received during the village-tour. You can enjoy a walk through the gift-shops and get a typical Caribbean souvenir. Duration of the tour: 2 hours.

Morning- Tour: On the second day, early morning visit of the canals within the National Park to discover a large variety of bird and to receive detailed information on the flora and fauna. Duration of the tour: 2 hours

Hill or walk: This tour provides impressive views on the whole valley and from the trail it is easy to discover its different species of inhabitants among which are three different kinds of monkeys, sloths, caimans, turtles, iguanas, poison arrow frogs, many birds, insects including the blue butterfly (Morpho Peleides). This tour depends of the weather, if it is raining or was raining a lot is not posible, but you can walk on the jungle at the national park or at the hotel

On the Hotel property you have the possibility to take a walk on the different trails through exuberant vegetation full of life, as well as through the gardens on the property to discover various species of exotic and tropical flowers.

The check out is the third day at 9am you will come back to san jose , on the route you will enjoy a nice tipical lunch at the tipycal restaurant.

This package included bus/boat transportation round trip, full meals, lodging, taxes and guided tours.

You should bring light clothes and rain coat, dark clothes for the turtle tour, boots or extra pair of walking shoes and insect repellent

 

TORTUGUERO/SOUTH CARIBBEAN itinerary & tour description:

The check out is the third day at 9am you will take the boat back to Cano Blanco and Siquirres from where you will be picked up by our Shuttle bus and driving over Puerto Limón along the Caribbean coast to Puerto Viejo de Talamanca where you stay at Azania Bungalows, 100m from a fantastic beach, and 1 mile out of town or at Cocoloco Lodge in Puerto Viejo.

Day 4 – 7: Beaches around Puerto Viejo, hiking, surfing, diving, horse riding, Canopy tour, guided tours through Indian Reserves, Botanical Garden and Chocolate Tour. Azania Bungalows or Cocoloco Lodge

Day 8: We have to say good bye to the Caribbean and our Shuttle bus brings us back to San José
